Darkhorse Wallet — Privacy Policy
Summary
Darkhorse Wallet is a self-custodial wallet. Your recovery phrase, private keys and password are generated and stored on your own device and are never transmitted anywhere. There is no account to create with us.
The extension contacts a small set of services to read the Bitcoin chain, relay RGB transfers and show asset information. Some of them are operated by us. This page lists each one and what it receives.
What stays on your device
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Recovery phrases, encrypted with your password | To open your wallets after locking or a browser restart |
| Wallet state: addresses, RGB consignments, transfer history | RGB is validated on your device; the consignments are the proof of what you own |
| Lightning node state (only if you turn Lightning on) | To keep your channels working between sessions |
| Settings and the sites you connected | To keep your configuration and authorize each site separately |
The unencrypted recovery phrase exists only in memory while a wallet is unlocked. Locking erases it.
What leaves your device
| Service | What it receives | Operated by |
|---|---|---|
Bitcoin indexer (default mempool.space; blockstream.info is a preset) | Your addresses and transaction ids, to read balances and broadcast transactions | A third party |
RGB relay (default proxy.dhorse.fun) | Consignments you send or receive, and the recipient identifier each is addressed to | Us |
Public RGB relay proxy.iriswallet.com | The same, only when a transfer is sent through it: invoices name it as a second relay so a transfer can still complete if ours is unreachable | A third party |
Asset index, reference price and pool list (dhorse.fun) | A request for a whole network's list. Not the assets you hold and no identifier | Us |
| Campaign site | Only after you allow it: your public identity address, to look up the campaign figures shown for it; when you press Claim, a claim message signed with that address | Us |
| Sites you connect | Your public identity address, and only the signatures, invoices and payments you approve one by one | The site |
| The Darkhorse site, once connected | Also how much of a given asset this wallet can offer in a swap, read without a window; a swap itself is approved like a payment and passes through our platform | Us |
On the test networks (Signet, Regtest) the services we operate are the same, under rgblaunchpad.meme.
A consignment is the record of an RGB transfer: the asset, the amounts and the transfer's history. The relay stores it until the recipient collects it. It cannot read your keys, phrase or password. You can set a different indexer or relay in the extension's settings.
Optional features, off by default
- Lightning (test networks only). When you turn it on, your wallet's Lightning node connects through our gateway to our Lightning node, which is the other side of your channels. Our node sees your channels and the payments that pass through them.
- Lightning backup (VSS). When you turn it on and enter a server address, your Lightning channel state is sent to that server so you can restore it on another device. It is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your recovery phrase, so the server cannot read its contents; it can see how much is stored, when, and the IP address it comes from.
What we collect
The extension has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising identifiers or tracking. We never receive your recovery phrase, private keys or password. What reaches services we operate is listed above. We do not sell or transfer it, we do not use it for anything beyond the purpose it was sent for, and we do not use it to assess creditworthiness or for lending.
Deleting your data
"Erase this wallet" in the extension's settings, or removing the extension, deletes the encrypted recovery phrases and all wallet state from your device. This cannot be undone: without a backup, assets in the wallet cannot be recovered. Data held on a relay or a backup server is not deleted by this; to ask us to delete data on a service we operate, write to the address below.
